Harris Trout is a consultant hired by the mayor to whip the SBPD back into shape in "No Trout About It". He was made the interim police chief at the end of the episode. He is fired as interim police chief at the end of Someone's Got a Woody, due to his dangerous handling of a hostage situation. He is portrayed by Anthony Michael Hall.

Personality[]

Trout is shown to be very odd, eating a Smart Balance bar on a regular schedule and resetting a timer every time he finishes one. He is shown to be very callous and does not believe in psychics at all. He also has a horrible relationship with his mother, continually yelling at her on the phone.

Appearances[]

No Trout About It[]

In "No Trout About It", Harris Trout is hired by the mayor of Santa Barbara to find out what happened in a poorly investigated case. He interviews the employees of the SBPD, only to be disgusted with their recent performances. He is upset to finding inter-office dating, hiring psychics, near strangling of fellow officers, and an officer working as a part-time stripper. When the case takes a new turn, he suspends everyone who had been currently working on it, including Juliet, Lassiter, Shawn, and Gus. Instead of obeying his orders, the gang solves the case anyway. At the end of the episode, Karen announces that she has been given a six-month suspension and, active immediately, Trout is the new interim police chief. He fires Shawn and Gus, demotes Lassiter from the head detective, and fires Buzz.

S.E.I.Z.E. the Day[]

In "S.E.I.Z.E. the Day", Trout's relationship with the other members of the SBPD only worsens.

Someone's Got a Woody[]

In "Someone's Got a Woody", Trout fires the entire gang but is luckily first fired himself by Internal Affairs.
