- The title is a play on the "Dead Man Walking" concept of the convicted criminal's last journey to execution.
- While being filmed by Lauren, Shawn introduces himself and Gus, who he claims is named "Radio Star", then goes on to say that he's "afraid [her] video will kill him". This is a reference to the song "Video Killed the Radio Star", a 1979 song by the Buggles.
- This also (arguably) foreshadows Gus' own role in "Dead Air".
