Cynthia Cooper was a member of the Box Canyon Commune, led by Eli. She and Dot were the first women to join the commune 15 years ago. Nine years later, however, Cynthia suddenly decided to leave the commune and go back to her promising life as an ob-gyn. Instead, she discovered that Eli had ruined her by stealing all of her money while she was living on the farm, which took a toll on her sanity according to Dot. When her brother Dan found out about what had happened to his sister, he started an investigation into the commune and specifically Eli that would eventually mean his gruesome death.
